OpsLevel is the leading internal developer portal designed to help engineering teams build, ship, and maintain software better than ever. We believe that developer portals are the linchpin to a successful developer experience. With customers like Duolingo, Sotheby's, Keller Williams, and Hootsuite, we know that the best businesses in the world prioritize a great developer experience in order to beat the competition.
We're a fully-remote team of folks who care deeply about the daily lives of developers, with team members across North America and Europe. OpsLevelers live our company values on a daily basis and when we’re not heads-down on a project or collaborating in real-time over Zoom, we're competing in trivia over lunch or sharing the latest fur baby photo in #pets-to-make-you-live-longer.
Our culture and values are very important and ground us in how we interact as one team:
Empathy - Think of others; think of your users
Growth Mindset - Get comfortable with being uncomfortable
Intellectual Honesty - The best solution is more important than anyone's ego
Focus & Efficiency - Keep the main thing the main thing
You’ll play a crucial role in driving design initiatives across our entire product. Reporting to the CTO, you’ll work closely with the founders, product managers, and developers to:
Conduct user research and discovery by engaging with software engineers and managers on topics like developer experience, operations, reliability, and security.
Develop a strong understanding of user problems and personas to deliver solutions that align with their needs and drive the right outcomes.
Design and iterate on wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to validate and test new product features.
Collaborate with product and engineering teams from concept to launch, ensuring designs are executed with precision and align with user needs.
Continuously measure and validate your designs through data and user feedback, making iterative improvements.
Help maintain and evolve our design system, establish UX guidelines, and contribute to process improvements during your time with us.
This is a one-year contract to cover a parental leave with the potential to convert to a full-time role based on performance and business need.
You’re an experienced product designer who thrives in fast-paced environments and can quickly grasp the needs of technical users. Here’s what we’re looking for:
5+ years of experience as a UX designer, interaction designer, or product designer
Experience working with SaaS applications used by midmarket and enterprise customers.
Developer tools experience is a plus, but not a must. However, you are comfortable speaking with technical users and translating their needs into intuitive designs.
A strong portfolio that showcases your ability to break down complex problems and deliver user-centric solutions.
Mastery of Figma for design and prototyping.
A user-first mindset—you care deeply about understanding personas, solving real problems, and making a tangible impact on customers.
A critical thinker who isn’t afraid to question assumptions and iterate toward the best solution.
Comfortable with ambiguity and working in a startup environment, where minimal structure requires a self-driven approach.
You get sh*t done. You take full ownership of your work, proactively identifying what needs to be done, and drive projects forward independently without waiting for detailed instructions or guidance.
You have strong time management skills and excel at managing competing priorities. You are able to balance multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that deadlines are met without compromising quality.
Experience contributing to or building design systems.
A healthy balance between “done” vs. “perfect”, knowing when to ship and iterate.
This one-year role provides the opportunity to step in and make a meaningful impact while our lead designer is on maternity leave. You’ll be driving key design initiatives and collaborating with a talented, remote-first team that values efficiency, simplicity, and getting things done.
When applying, please include a resume and a PDF or link to an online portfolio (as well as a password to the portfolio if necessary).
We offer market-leading compensation, including equity, based on the skill set and aptitude of the candidate.
If you meet some or most of what we're looking for, we want to hear from you, and if you’re unsure - apply anyways!
Not much! A working web camera, microphone, and (ideally) a quiet place with minimal background noise.
We are building an inclusive and welcoming workplace where employees feel appreciated, valued and free to be who they are regardless of their gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, age, neurodiversity, disability status, citizenship, or any other aspect which makes them unique.
