About Hearth

Hearth exists because 50-80% of small businesses in the trades (Roofers, Plumbers, etc.) fail within their first five years. Our mission is to change that forever, and empower small business contractors to build and grow successful companies.

In the last few years, we’ve built an all-in-one platform that helps SMBs grow sales, protect profits, and save time. With over 10,000 customers, Hearth is a vertical SaaS platform powered by a financial services layer that is currently powering billions in home improvement projects. We are growing, profitable in our base case, and are working to disrupt a fragmented, underserved, $600B market.

Backed by the same investors as SpaceX, Stripe, Palantir, Airbnb, Rippling, Affirm, Brex, and OpenAI (Founders Fund, 8VC, Human Capital), we aim to protect small business entrepreneurship in America, redefine what is possible in running a trades business in today’s rapidly changing world, and bring forth a future where every small business owner in the trades can succeed, despite not having a fancy pedigree, special connections, or access to deep pockets.

The Opportunity

Hearth is at a crossroads where we know the profiles of our ideal customers but lack the content we need to help them understand the benefits of our product. We need a great content marketer to power the next phase of our business growth. We’re looking for a content marketer who knows our market (SMB residential contractors) to power the next phase of our business growth.

With mentorship from a world-class team (Affirm, Square, Bain&Co, Adobe), you’ll set your own lead generation goals and assist our demand generation team with hitting theirs. You’ll generate most of the content yourself across multiple mediums (see below) to hit those goals. This is an individual contributor role, but as we achieve results you’ll have the opportunity to expand resources externally and internally. You’ll also work closely with our product, customer success, sales, and HR teams to create content that has measurable outcomes on company growth. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, with an appetite to learn and a genuine desire to help small business contractors.

We’re looking for someone with a proven, quantifiable record of generating growth via content in the home services industry who wants to build out the function at a fast growing startup. You’re a great communicator (across multiple mediums and in person with our customers), can balance your creative strengths with a focus on analytical outcomes, and have a growth mindset for whatever comes your way.

What you'll do:

  • Develop content strategy and execute on roadmap to achieve demand generation goals

  • Develop in-depth case studies by sourcing and interviewing our ideal customers. Adapt case studies for various marketing touchpoints including: one-pagers, videos, testimonials, landing pages, etc to drive customer acquisition of specific industries

  • Develop content to support our Demand Generation efforts including: ad copy, video scripts, landing pages copy, etc.

  • Own our website, including messaging, assets (photos/videos), and write blog content ensuring all content adheres to our brand guidelines.

  • Develop compelling email marketing campaigns focused on customer acquisition, retention, and reactivation in coordination with our marketing operations team

  • Project manage external vendors in video production, including ideation, script writing, and actionable feedback. Note: we do not require technical videography skills [editing, filming, etc] but expect you to be able to manage the process of outsourcing them

  • As time permits, create enablement materials (with sales enablement/Product), content for onboarding (with CS team), and recruiting/company brand materials (with HR)

  • As we grow, create content for additional impactful channels such as social media, podcast/audio, direct mail, etc

Who you are:

  • Direct experience creating content for residential home services contractors is required

  • Proven, quantifiable experience (2 - 4+ years) generating lead volume in content marketing positions

  • Experience creating case studies and a strong ability to build rapport with contractors in person or over the phone

  • Strong writing abilities (Short and long form, copywriting, email, etc)

  • Experience with sourcing high-quality video content

  • Proficiency with website Content Management Systems like Wordpress, Contentful, etc

  • Proficiency with the design platform of your choice (Canva, Photoshop, etc) to create impactful visuals

  • Familiarly with AI tools and a strong perspective on the proper ways to use and not to use them

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, English, Communications, or other relevant field

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment

Benefits:

  • Mission-driven, values-based culture.

  • Competitive pay.

  • Growth opportunities as we continue to grow and scale.

  • 401(k) package.

  • Free Employee Assistance Program

  • Parental Leave Program

  • Pet Insurance

Our Core Values

  • Truth. We value honesty and data. We seek to understand what is reality, so we can effectively respond to it.

  • Slope. Rate of change over time. We hire and reward based on a team member’s potential, capacity, and growth-mindset, rather than a fancy resume.

  • Mutual Benefit. The best outcomes happen when everyone wins - customers, team members, and the company. We seek to understand each other’s aspirations and create alignment to get there.

  • Competitive Greatness. We desire an opportunity and environment from which to pull the greatest versions of ourselves out into the world, rather than just a “job”.
