About the Role

Reporting to the Global Chief Marketing Officer, the Vice President, Global Marketing & Communications Strategy, serves as a highly collaborative leader who brings an executive presence along with exceptional business acumen, critical thinking skills and ingenuity to our marketing and communications functions. If you have a talent for assessing opportunities, solving problems, connecting dots, applying metrics-driven rigor and maintaining a “forest through the trees” vantage point, you are a great fit for this role. Much of your time will be spent orchestrating a cohesive strategy that drives growth, scales Pearson’s multiple businesses into new markets and aligns our marketing and communications initiatives directly to Pearson’s vision, strategy, purpose and values.

You will be responsible for developing and driving marketing & communications strategies that catapult brand awareness, ramp up ROI and elevate Pearson’s brand. You´ll shape and constantly elevate Pearson’s voice with powerful positioning across all communications channels that illuminates how our innovative solutions help people live the life they imagine.

There is nothing solo about this role. You’ll be constantly partnering with leaders across many parts of our multiple businesses. Most of your focus will working in close collaboration with our marketing and communications team members in brand, executive communications, performance marketing, pursuit marketing, internal communications, public relations, investor relations, analyst relations, customer relations, social media, events and sponsorships. We’re looking for a leader that has direct experience working in each of these functional areas, as well as experience leading teams that span them. You’ll also be partnering with the leaders of Pearson businesses, global project teams and our stakeholders. Proven experience being “at the table” is a must. You’ll be teaming with, and providing guidance to, our global C-suite, members of our executive leadership team and our partners’ executives.

About You

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or other four-year university degree or equivalent, preferably in English, journalism, marketing, public relations or communications. Leadership training is a plus.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 20 years executive-level experience in marketing, communications and sales, preferably with B2B/C at a public company, start-up or global enterprise.
  • Revenue responsibility in tech, education or digital publishing space is also highly desirable.
  • Direct experiencerequired in marketing strategy, brand development, business development, strategic partnerships, sales enablement and corporate communications (including executive communications, IR, PR, analyst relations, crisis communications, internal communications and social media).

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong business and industry acumen.
  • Executive presence, diplomacy, integrity and the ability to advise C-suite.
  • Seasoned, strategic, hands-on, consultative and collaborative approach.
  • Experience working in, and leading, all aspects of marketing and communications.
  • Go-to-market strategy development for omni-channel marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Ability to assess competitive landscape to influence short and long-term plans.
  • Exceptional communications skills with attention to strategic importance of context and details.
  • Experience in issues management and crisis communications.
  • Effective recruiter, mentor and coach.
  • Ability to maintain an intimate understanding of customers’ needs.

About Your Compensation & Benefits

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, New York State and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $230k- $280k.
