Positions in this sub-family are responsible for providing IT functional/technical/strategic consulting and assisting businesses and other organizations to operate their IT software/hardware systems more efficiently by identifying and measuring problems, and recommending, customizing and implementing solutions. Depending on the organization, consulting projects include conducting organizational studies and evaluations; designing IT systems and procedures, and conducting work and process studies. Activities include developing and managing client relationships and managing project timelines, budgets, fees and outcomes. An Experienced Professional (P2) applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities typically include: • Works independently with general supervision. • Problems faced are difficult but typically not complex. • May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.

The Role:

The Consultant, Interoperability supports the design and build of data integration tools for Nordic clients. This position works under the direction of the Manager of Interoperability to address documented client needs while actively seeking opportunities to refine client deliverables, build knowledge in new domains, and improve Nordic’s business processes.

Key Responsibilities:

The Consultant, Interoperability will have the following key responsibilities, which include but are not limited to:

  • Providing consultative assistance to Nordic clients regarding healthcare interoperability technologies

  • Working with Nordic clients to identify interoperability product requirements and documenting requirements using templated resources

  • Collaborating with senior staff to develop detailed requirement specifications and estimated work effort

  • Participating in software development processes as an Interoperability Subject Matter Expert and performing testing as needed

  • Independently engaging with clients to respond to questions

  • Applying creativity and critical thinking in solving problems and the ability to quickly comprehend new processes

  • Managing assigned tasks, maintaining a high standard of service for all customer requests

  • Providing updates for and participating as needed in regular calls with customers

  • Collaborating with internal team members to continually enhance processes and workflows to improve business operations, client experience, and operational efficiency

  • Independently works to continually improve processes and workflows to generate efficiencies

  • Mentoring junior team members and being a knowledge lead for team members

  • Participating in continuous learning opportunities to grow domain expertise

  • Working on projects that may be assigned on an ad hoc basis and may assist other corporate initiatives as necessary, directed, assigned, or requested

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, required

  • 2+ years’ experience in Health IT required

  • Certification or experience with one or more EHRs

  • Experience implementing or developing with interoperability technologies, such as HL7, FHIR, ANSI X12, NCPDP

  • Comprehension of and ability to work within the Software Development Lifecycle

  • Personal or professional web development experience required (any language)

  • Demonstrated ability to seek out, analyze, and solve novel problems

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Must demonstrate and embody Nordic’s maxims

Skills and experience:

  • Travel up to 10% of the time
