Summary:

The Sr. Director of Anesthesia Business Operations will have progressive healthcare leadership experience with anesthesia practice experience. Provides operational oversight for the CHS Anesthesia Department and is responsible for developing anesthesia as a new clinical group and effectively implementing the overall strategic plan for the provision of anesthesia services.

The position provides leadership, direction, administration, and fiscal management for operations, optimization, and growth. The Sr. Director closely partners with anesthesia providers and other provider leaders, including Medical Directors and Supervisor CRNAs, in an administrative shared leadership model. The Sr. Director is responsible for partnering with executive leadership to develop strategic planning and ensure the implementation of strategic initiatives. The Sr. Director is also responsible for updating and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and establishing department goals and objectives that align with CHS. Partnership with the existing surgical services infrastructure will be key to success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analysis: Analyzes processes and creates deliverables to provide information and improvement recommendations.
    • Break down problems and issues into sub-components and assess the costs, return on investment (ROI), benefits, and risks of various options.
    • Is able to select and recommend the best solution based on a thorough examination of all considerations.

    • Works to Develop an Anesthesia KPI dashboard
    • Collects and compiles MIPS data
    • Demonstrates efficiency and quality in one’s own work.
  • Customer Service: Builds relationships and maintains strategic partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
    • Understands the importance of quality service.
    • Is able to adjust and adapt service delivery to diverse customer needs and sensitivities.
    • Frequently suggests and implements changes to improve the quality of service.
  • Financial Management: Manages tasks and resources within the department to achieve quality and meet budget requirements.
    • Creates budgets and pro-formas as needed. Performs variance analysis when appropriate.
    • Ensures that financial and material resources are used effectively and efficiently.
    • Leverages resources to maximize utility and ROI.
    • Establishes provider compensation packages and ensures it meets fair market value (FMV)
    • Implements measures to minimize theft, damage, or equipment breakdown.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's degree in business, finance, healthcare administration or related field
  • Experience:
    • Experience working in anesthesia services
    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience with anesthesia practice experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead productive and complex teams, which could include leaders of teams and teams located in various geographic locations.
    • Demonstrated expertise in medical group operations and effective leadership with a team-based care delivery system.
    • Experience managing group practices across multiple geographic locations.
    • Ability to drive effective business and management strategies, including capital and expense budgeting, cost accounting, and professional and patient billing.
    • Health insurance knowledge of HMO and PPO contracts as they relate to providers and practices.
    • Recruiting, Contracting, HR onboarding, and Provider Enrollment knowledge
  • Reasoning Ability - to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:
    • Define problems, collect and interpret data, utilizing various statistical tools and formats, as needed, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop sound plans for improvement
    • Communicate effectively with facility/corporate staff and leaders, patients, families/significant others, vendors, co-workers, regulators, and others via written and verbal communications
    • Work collaboratively with others across the organization to achieve individual, group, departmental, facility, and/or corporate goals
  • Computer Skills: knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and database software
