About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Entry-Level CAD Designer to join our team for a 6-month contract. Recent college grads are strongly encouraged to apply. This role involves designing and preparing construction plans for porches, decks, and patios, as well as the submission of permit applications. If you have a passion for design and are familiar with North Carolina building codes and SketchUp (or similar CAD software), we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed and accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for porches, decks, and patios using SketchUp or similar software.
  • Ensure that all designs comply with North Carolina building codes and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to develop design solutions that meet project requirements.
  • Submit permit applications to local municipalities and ensure all required documentation is included.
  • Update and modify designs based on project changes, feedback, or code requirements.
  • Assist in preparing construction documents, including material takeoffs and design layouts.
  • Maintain organised and accurate records of all project drawings, permits, and related documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and local government offices to ensure smooth project approvals and progress.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar design software.
  • Basic understanding of North Carolina building codes related to porches, decks, and patios.
  • Familiarity with permit submission processes and requirements for construction projects.
  • Ability to interpret and produce accurate construction drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
