About this role

This role is responsible for the monitoring, evaluating and reporting of performance and verified savings of energy savings performance projects implemented by NORESCO. They also provide support to M&V activities during project development and construction, and oversee the transition of projects from construction to the performance period.

Key Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for the monitoring, evaluating and reporting of performance and verified savings of energy savings performance projects implemented by NORESCO. They also provide support to M&V activities during project development and construction, and oversee the transition of projects from construction to the performance period. Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and coordinate measurements of electric power and energy, temperature, humidity, liquid or gas flow rates, pressure, and other parameters at customer sites.
  • Monitor and evaluate ECM performance remotely and on site; including data collection, review of metered data, utility bills, and BAS data.
  • Diagnose HVAC and building system performance issues.
  • Coordinate and review results of on-site inspections and O&M record reviews to verify performance and ongoing operation and maintenance practices for ECMs installed by NORESCO.
  • Conduct customer meetings to present findings from the ongoing review of data from energy management systems, diagnostics, and energy savings analysis.
  • Work with other NORESCO departments and customers to resolve ECM performance and reporting issues.
  • Oversee the transition of projects from construction into the Performance Phase, including implementing data collection methods for ECMs as needed.
  • Calculate verified savings in accordance with the M&V plan, including:
    • Option B and Option C verification methods
    • Evaluating actual and contractual utility rates
    • Track changes customer facilities that may affect the performance of installed ECMs, and, working with engineers from M&V and Analysis, develop non-routine adjustments to baseline and/or post-installation energy use to account where necessary reconciliation of verified and guaranteed savings
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports that are accurate and timely.
  • Perform quality control reviews for customer deliverables, and monitor quality of reports produced or reviewed by M&V specialists.
  • Develop subcontractor scopes of work for Performance Period M&V activities including data collection.
  • Work with the Manager and Director of Performance Engineering to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Train Associate Energy Engineers to perform baseline, construction, and performance period M&V activities, including:
    • The means and methods to safely complete measurements of electric power and energy, temperature, humidity, liquid or gas flow rates, pressure, and other parameters at customer sites.
    • How to monitor and evaluate ECM performance remotely and on site; including data collection, review of metered data, utility bills, and BAS data.
  • Mentor Associate Energy Engineers.
  • Support data requests and portfolio reporting tasks by compiling historical ECM and project performance data to support M&V, marketing, finance, and other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Travel up to 25%.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years of prior relevant Energy Engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with eQuest
  • Experience with energy savings calculations
  • Experience with FEMP and IPMVP
