About this role
We have an immediate need for an experienced Sr. Commissioning Agent. As a Sr. Commissioning Agent at NORESCO, you will report to a Commissioning Manager, be responsible for the Commissioning Process on your portfolio of projects, and provide guidance for less experienced commissioning agents.
You will interact with NORESCO Project Team leadership and provide input for the development and application of Commissioning Procedures to support NORESCO business objectives. This position requires extensive partnering with each of our departments, project team members, subcontractors, and, most importantly, our customers. Since you will be leading and directing Commissioning Processes for our multidisciplinary project teams, it is of the utmost importance that you are an articulate, collaborative, adaptable, and detail oriented professional with excellent listening, technical, communication, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting - Investigate and identify the root cause of problems, securing relevant information and identifying possible solutions.
- Commissioning Process Tracking - Communicate to accurately summarize progress, issues, and facilitate the exchange of information within project teams and to senior leadership.
- Risk Mitigation - Work with project teams and manage risks by identifying and addressing contractual obligations pertaining to scopes of work, schedules, costs, deliverables, commissioning, performance guarantees, etc.
- Document Control – Maintain project tracking tools, schedule and complete tests with subcontractors, collect and organize commissioning documentation, and track deficiencies.
- Design Review – Assist our engineers with reviewing submittals, drawings, and control sequences for compliance with project scope and design intent.
- Project Development - Assist with project surveys when needed and provide input during project development and design to support project objectives.
- Anticipated travel 50%.
Required Qualifications
- Either a Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline OR Technical Education i.e.; Navy Nuclear Power program OR Associates Degree in a technical field.
- 5 or more years of experience working with a variety of mechanical, electrical equipment and systems, (HVAC, Lighting, PV, COGEN, Boilers, Chillers, VFDs, Controls, Pumps, etc).

- Strong project management skills, ability to organize and complete tasks in pace with a project schedule while maintaining a high level of attention to detail, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to develop and maintain the technical skills and proficiency required to successfully commission a wide variety of mechanical and electrical technologies and systems.
- Demonstrated ability to obtain, parse, and present relevant data to effectively analyze issues.
- Strong communication skills and ability to clearly and concisely explain observations and conclusions regarding technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Analytical Thinking / Troubleshooting Skills
- A combination of Risk Management skills that support Design, Construction, or Commissioning.
- Technical Management Skills – Assist less experienced technical personnel by providing them with coaching, mentoring, and training to support their success and the success of projects.
- Commissioning Process Management – Display a deep understanding of how Buildings, Systems, and Equipment are commissioned. Able to support development and implementation of Commissioning Process Standards, Templates, Schedules, Resource Forecasts, and Training Documents.
- Leadership Skills – Assess project team talent/abilities to leverage unique resources on a portfolio of projects and assignments in a fast paced and continuously changing environment. Review project schedules and leverage experience to identify/communicate conflicts and collaborate with Construction Managers and other project team members to develop solutions.
- Quality Control Skills – Assist with the development of robust process controls that ensure consistent quality using practical and repeatable methods. Review project documents and deliverables to identify errors, concerns, or ambiguities.
