About this role

As a Senior Project Engineer at NORESCO, you will lead and manage the technical development of large complex Federal projects. You will have a great deal of interaction with customers as well as other NORESCO staff including Energy Engineers, Sales, Project Developers, Design Engineers, Construction Managers, Measurement and Verification (M&V), and Senior Management. You will also be representing NORESCO at customer sites visits and conference calls as the technical leader and represent the technical team during senior management review meetings. You must have knowledge and expertise in a wide range of technology and technical solutions, development processes of ESPC and UESC contracts and federal customer expectations, requirements and standards. Must possess active leadership skills, professionalism as well as a strong technical background with excellent communication and technical writing skills.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the technical team during all phases of project development including overall responsibility in conducting energy audits, site investigations, ECM scope development, energy savings calculations, and developing cost estimates for large federal, commercial and institutional facilities. Work cross functionally with all disciplines during the project lifecycle and to improve processes and procedures.

  • Identify and quantify energy conservation opportunities associated with a variety of technologies and solutions. Drive innovation to support new offerings and solutions.
  • Lead technical discussions of scope, savings, and M&V methods during Customer and Senior Management review calls.
  • Coordinate and schedule site visits with customers and NORESCO personnel.
  • Oversee development of and review energy calculations using whole-building modeling and temperature- bin analysis methods to calculate energy savings associated with ECM upgrades.
  • Screen and develop initial costs and savings for ECMs to test viability within an ESPC project. Regularly review ECMs with team during progression of projects to ensure development of innovative and cost-effective projects.
  • Develop and execute project development approach, schedules, and development budgets. Track technical teams’ progress and establish accountability on deliverables and project development spending.
  • Lead development of measurement and verification plans with M&V team. Review and gain approval of M&V methods and with Customers and Senior Management.
  • Write detailed Energy Conservation Measure descriptions to be included in proposal submissions as well as oversee development of ECM descriptions written by technical team.
  • Mentor and support training of lower-level engineering staff.
  • Lead and support management in improving processes and tools for development and analysis of technologies and offerings.
  • Represent the engineering team during project review calls with leadership. Work cross functionally with all disciplines during the project lifecycle and to improve offerings, processes and procedures.
  • Assist the sales organization in prospecting new and existing clients, participate in site visits and sales presentations and develop technical write-ups for competitive proposals.
  • Cultivate and maintain customer relationships with similar function and peer level.
  • Travel up to 40%

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years relevant experience in the Energy or Sustainability Services industry
  • 3+ years managing or leading Engineering projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Due to contractual agreements, must be a US citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Architectural Engineering
  • MBA, PE, and CEM are not required, but are considered a plus
  • Experience with Building Energy Modeling
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills including cross-functional collaboration
  • Proven track record developing large complex technical solutions and projects
  • Ability to understand and analyze a wide variety complex technical solutions
  • Strong organizational, technical writing and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Word, and Excel
