The Role

We’re looking to hire a QA Engineer to join our Software Testing team, this role will form an important component of the quality assurance practices surrounding our software package. This is founded on the Java technology stack, Web Frameworks (Struts, Tapestry, AngularJS) alongside many supporting internal and external services. It can be provided to clients on a hosted or On-Premises basis.

What you’ll be doing

  • Interact with product management, Scrum/Agile development teams to develop a strong understanding of the project and testing objectives, including participating internal sprint planning and reviews, daily stand-ups and estimation sessions.
  • Design and create test conditions and scripts to address business and technical use cases.
  • Oversee scheduled and ad-hoc functional and regression testing of new and existing core functionality to ensure high quality standard are achieved at all times for all software releases.
  • Running automated/Manual Tests.
  • Clear reporting of the testing status through test execution.
  • Maintenance of test scripts to ensure this is consistent with new or changed functionality as part of a software release to support the testing activity.
  • Document, track and escalate issues as appropriate, using YouTrack or similar tools/means.
  • Performing End-to-End system, regression and UAT.
  • Demoing of new features to client.
  • Ability to travel to client site (Cardiff) by monthly basis and as and when required.

What we’re looking for from your application

  • Excellent knowledge of API Testing.
  • Experience of working within agile SDLC processes, including TDD/BDD.
  • Write and execute Manual/automation test scripts.
  • Clear understanding and experience of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Testing (CT) approaches.
  • Excellent Communication skill. Communication skills including ability to communicate with client project/management team.
  • Work collaboratively as part of an Agile Scrum team.
  • Interact with product owners, project management and Scrum/Agile development teams to develop a strong understanding of the project and testing objectives.
  • Clear reporting of the testing status through test execution.
  • Proven ability to create, plan and execute appropriate test plans for all types of change.
  • Finance sector experience would be preferred and extremely advantageous, particularly UK consumer lending.
  • Database skills, mainly in SQL Server.
  • Must be flexible, independent and self-motivated.
