The Regional Director of Anesthesia Operations shall act as the expert resource to the Supervisor CRNAs for hospitals, HOPDs, and ambulatory surgery centers in their assigned region in the CHS system. Responsible for achieving excellence in operations to include, but is not limited to, patient care, employee and provider satisfaction and engagement, the development and implementation of business strategy and development, program delivery, growth goals, organizational development, and financial management. Partnership with the existing surgical services infrastructure will be key to success.
Will provide a broad perspective as it relates to care delivery for anesthesia services across the continuum of care. Will work collaboratively to identify, assess, plan and implement regional and corporate performance improvement strategies. Continually evaluating and driving improvement in the efficacy, safety, quality and cost of patient care in accordance with organizational, professional and regulatory standards and benchmarking. Will provide expertise and be a mentor to new facility Supervisor and Lead CRNAs or those needing assistance in enhancing department performance. This position reports to VP Anesthesia Operations who may request assistance for other corporate initiatives related to Anesthesia Services. All duties will be fulfilled consistent with the mission of CHSPSC, LLC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the financial management of the anesthesia service practices and operation budgets of all assigned regional anesthesia departments. Ensures patient care is achieved cost effectively. Monitors fiscal operations on an ongoing basis. Works with the appropriate individuals to resolve problems and issues and reconcile discrepancies in monthly financial reports.
  • Coach, mentor and develop others in a variety of key skills including: relationship management, project management, staffing and execution. Lead company-wide, group, and/or facility education programs and resource materials for specific quality improvement projects. Expert resource person for anesthesia programs and/or anesthesia leaders at assigned facilities.
  • Develop and cultivate collaborative relationships with corporate and hospital personnel, team members and physicians, to ensure engagement and improved operations. Coordinate efforts with other internal CHS support departments to support achievement of individual, facility, regional and corporate goals.
  • Routinely communicates effectively with facility/regional/department/corporate leaders on findings, priorities, results of improvement actions, barriers to improvement actions, recommendations for improvement, and other pertinent information.
  • Assisting with strategic planning, market analysis, business development, growth initiatives and quality improvement plans for the anesthesia services practice. Participate in other projects as requested.
  • Providing on-site consultative services as needed for Corporate’s Anesthesia Services Practice at assigned facilities.
  • Ability to produce and utilize data for project tracking and outcomes achievement, prioritize projects and resolve conflicting priorities, develop policies and procedures, performance dashboards and scorecards, assessment forms and other tools related to business planning, gap analysis, performance evaluation and quality metrics.
  • Reasoning Ability: Define problems, collect and interpret data, utilizing a variety of statistical tools and formats, as needed, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and develop sound plans for improvement. Communicate effectively with facility/corporate staff and leaders, patients, families/significant others, vendors, co-workers, regulators, and others via written and verbal communications. Work collaboratively with others across the organization to achieve individual, group, departmental, facility, or corporate goals.
  • Assist facilities with continuous survey readiness. Ensures compliance with regulations and governing rules of the established medical group and contracted payers to include Federal and State payers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required Education: Graduate from both an Accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor’s Degree and School of Nurse Anesthesia with at least a Master’s Degree. Certified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetist (NBCRNA) as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and recognized by the state of practice as a CRNA. Must meet minimum continuing education requirements every four years as per the NBCRNA requirements for certification.
    Master’s degree in Health Administration (MHA) and/or Business Administration (MBA)
  • Preferred Education: Doctorate Nursing Practice (DNP)
  • Required Experience: Minimum of 8 years of CRNA experience
  • Preferred Experience: Minimum of 10 years of CRNA experience and 5 years supervisory experience
  • Required License/Registration/Certification:
    • Current RN and/or APRN licensure in appropriate state
    • NBCRNA certification
    • Current BLS certification
    • Current ACLS certification
    • Current PALS certification
  • Preferred License/Registration/Certification:
    • ACHE
    • Lean Project Management
    • Six Sigma Project Management
