We are seeking a talented Lead Software Engineer to join our client's team in Falls Church, VA. Founders are engineers, and the majority of the team members are engineers. The team is flat in hierarchy and you will likely have more autonomy over your code than what you are previously accustomed to. You won't be just fixing bugs or maintaining existing codebase - you will be building exciting new features, analyzing metrics, re-designing complex interfaces, and making important technical and product decisions.
Write clean, quality, and secure code based on product requirements
Build interactive web application, APIs, and algorithms
Optimize performance and browser compatibility
Ensure technical decisions support our client’s goals of quality, scalability, reliability, security and high performance
Work with a team of engineers and help meet deadlines
At least 8 years of experience building web applications and enterprise software
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or a related field
Prior work in a SaaS software platform as a full-stack or back-end developer
Hands-on programming experience with Javascript, ReactJS, JQuery, Bootstrap, Redis, and building RESTful APIs, AJAX
Solid experience with LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) or LEMP stack, and excellent command line skills on Linux
Skilled in building highly scalable, load-balanced web applications (e.g., well-designed APIs, high-volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms)
Experience with SQL stored procedures, database architecture, micro services, message queues (such as RabbitMQ)
Knowledge of container technology (docker, etc.) and cloud services (IaaS, PaaS), AWS, Elastic Search
Experience using third-party testing tools and frameworks and working with version control systems such as GIT, Bitbucket, etc.
Experience with a security-tech or privacy-tech company is a plus
Experience with NoSQL/Hadoop/Hive/HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc. is a plus
Hands-on experience with Python, Java or AI Algorithms is a plus
Contribution to open-source projects is a plus
Hands-on experience with encryption algorithms and vulnerability assessment tools is a plus
Ability to work 3 days/week in an office in Falls Church, VA
Making important technical and product decisions

Base salary: $100,000 per year (negotiable based on experience)
Performance-based bonus: $25,000 per year
