About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the Wilbur software engineering team. For applicants in Sydney, this 6-month fixed-term contract role offers a hybrid work arrangement (3 days in the office per week and 2 days remote), while for those outside Sydney, it is fully remote. This role is for full stack development and focuses on the development of our existing Wilbur Software-as-a-Service product.
We currently have one software engineering team in Australia. This position will work with any other stakeholders required to complete the development of these products.
The technology mix is C# (ASP.NET Core) and Ruby for the back-end, Angular for the front-end, hosted in AWS ECS, and RDS Aurora (MySQL). This role’s responsibility will span from front-end to back-end development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in sprint planning and backlog grooming
- Develop technical documentation
- Identify appropriate technical solutions that meet the objectives of the business
- Minimise solution complexity
- Work closely with other engineers, UX designers, product owners, and business analysts
- Work cooperatively with colleagues in a spirit of support and respect
- Assist team members to achieve sprint goals
- Minimise the impact of faults within the products
- Assist support staff in resolving user problems that relate to the technical performance of the product(s)
- Provide feedback on the effectiveness of the team and suggest improvements
- Share knowledge throughout the team
- Conduct code reviews to help achieve the best outcome for the team
- Take ownership of self-training, and adopt a continuous improvement mindset
Key Requirements:
Essential
- Degree or qualification in computer science or related industry experience
- Strong experience with ASP.NET Core and Ruby on Rails (experience with both is highly regarded)
- Strong experience with Angular, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, etc., for modern front end SPA development
- Efficient time management and organisational skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication skills to build strong working relationships, both written and verbal
- Proactive and results driven
Desirable
- Experience working in a cloud-first environment, ideally AWS
- Experience working in and with remote teams
