The Lead, Copy Editor’s focus is reviewing written content to ensure readability, edit for accuracy in grammar, punctuation, and spelling. This role includes reviewing customer documents to glean language to develop and maintain style guides as well as creating and maintaining response templates. This position also provides support to writers and Proposal Operations in a SharePoint environment.
The Lead, Copy Editor contributes to the development of content for Medicaid Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to effectively represent products, services, brands, and the organization to customers.
Role Overview:
Create response templates and documents for development upon release of RFPs
Review and revise content for accuracy and quality by fact checking; correcting grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors; ensuring readability, tone, clarity, flow, and voice are consistent and properly communicated throughout all content
Ensure proposal responses are well-written and error free
Create and maintain style guides that adhere to state-specific language and incorporate business development and corporate brand standards
Support Writing team and Proposal Operations and Leadership
Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility
Assist with production of final submissions as needed
Orient writers and consultants on style guides/processes
Edit graphics and images for quality
Remain well-versed in changes to language evolution, particularly for Medicaid population
Create and maintain Strategy Matrix for operations
Ad hoc projects/tasks as needed

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of copyediting experience
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
- Experience working in a collaborative, digital environment
- Available to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays as needed due to the needs of the business
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Work well in a fast-paced team environment
- Time management skills
- Some required travel as needed
- Independent self-starter and extremely detail-oriented
- Ability to work across multiple subject matter and projects
- Demonstrated experience for sizeable and complex content
- Proficient written and oral communication, time management, and the ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines
- Health care industry experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of Medicaid proposal writing/editing experience
- Copy Editing certification
- APMP certification

- Must have the flexibility to work extended hours to meet deadlines as necessary
Work-At-Home Requirements:
To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:
- At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested
- Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership
- Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi weekly payment for their internet expense.
- Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
- Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI/ HIPM information

Pay RangeThe compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$102,200 - $140,700 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
