At Netcraft, our Software Engineers develop cutting-edge solutions to combat cybercrime and secure the digital landscape for organisations worldwide. As a Software Engineering Intern, you'll have the opportunity to accelerate your growth by contributing high-quality code directly to Netcraft's industry-leading platforms. These products play a critical role in safeguarding some of the world's most significant institutions across both public and private sectors.
Our Engineering team is composed of small, specialised groups of Software Engineers, each focused on a specific component of our products. You might find yourself enhancing a key aspect of our anti-phishing services, developing tools for monitoring web vulnerabilities, or improving the scalability of our infrastructure. We foster a culture of open communication and collaboration, encouraging you to learn from our Engineers, many of whom were once interns here too.
From day one, you will be given real work to support real customers. Everything you do will have a genuine and tangible impact. We don’t have “pet projects” for our students – everyone does important work from the outset. For instance, during your internship, you might work on our classification system (which processes 10 million URLs daily) by enhancing the scalability of the system or improving the automated detection of fraudulent content. Or you might find yourself working on our Takedown team, improving the automated workflows for removing malicious content from the internet and improving user interfaces.
This position can be based in either our Bath, London, or Manchester offices. We offer options for 3-month summer placements, alongside 4, 6, or 12-month internships, so you can choose whatever best suits your degree requirements and situation.
At Netcraft, we believe that the specific programming languages you know when you join us are less important than your ability to write clear and efficient code, and your eagerness to learn new languages. Currently, we mostly use Go, TypeScript, Perl and MySQL.
Prior experience or knowledge in cybersecurity is not required; we’re more interested in your passion for coding and your willingness to grow in this field.
This is very important to us and through our ally network we support under-represented groups. We seek to maintain a working environment that is free from bias, harassment or discrimination, and we encourage candidates from any background to apply, regardless of their gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, ability/disability, age, religion, or any other specific characteristics.
We’re happy to make any adjustments to our hiring process to ensure that everyone can participate fully and comfortably.
