The North America Business Unit (NA BU) is a dynamic team spanning North America and working on a suite of thriving, long standing impactful bodies of work. The Business Unit includes NASA’s Space Apps Challenge and Collective to a Wellbeing Economy Building initiative anchored by Headstream to a Climate Economy Building initiative anchored by For Climate Tech. This Senior Project Manager role will be part of the Consulting Group team within the North America Business Unit, where we connect with new clients, explore new problems, build community and / or capacity as part of our work to build economies that are good for people and the planet.

The Consulting Group executes projects with government, corporate and foundation clients in the areas of Research, Design, Strategy and Pilot Implementation. The work of this group involves developing insights, strategies and solutions that lead to social, environmental and economic impact, as well as pilots for future scalable programs and solutions. This dynamic team requires business development expertise to build and manage business opportunities aligned with consulting strategy, and also requires program management expertise to manage consulting projects and support the delivery of our current and future offerings.

While this role sits within the Consulting Group, it collaborates with and supports programs across the Business Unit as skills, capacity and needs require. This position will report directly to the Senior Director of Consulting within the North America Business Unit and will work in collaboration with the Senior Vice President of the North America Business Unit, the broader consulting team, the Director of Operations of the North America Business Unit, and the SecondMuse Business Development Team.

  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.

Core Functions

The primary tasks and activities that you will carry out are:

  • Manage sourcing and growth of business development opportunities, including business relationships, network building, RFPs, renewals, and proposal development in alignment with the SecondMuse consulting offering and strategy .
  • Lead and support concept development and client stewardship to advance business opportunities into closed contracts.
  • Design and implement strategies for successful project and client management, ensuring projects are executed on time and within budget. This will involve managing one or more high value or complex projects at a time and will require tight coordination with the Senior Director of Consulting and the broader team.
  • Support in client management and partner management to successfully deliver consulting projects on time and budget, and build new, trusting relationships that lead to new work.
  • Lead team and client onboarding, kickoffs, and retros to drive effectiveness within the North America Business Unit.

Core Responsibilities

The overall obligations and accountabilities that you will have within your job role are:

  • Support the creation of business development documentation and assets, including, but not limited to decks, case studies, one pagers, and communication materials, in coordination with the Global Marketing and Communications team.
  • Support the development of an operational model that delivers high-impact consulting projects from lead to completion, while contributing to strategic thinking and the long-term success of the Consulting group
  • Manage project operations across a diverse set of consulting projects in collaboration with the Senior Director of Consulting, Senior VP of North America Business Unit and Senior Program Manager of Consulting. Responsibilities include project finance set up and management, people plan set up and management, contracts management, internal consulting team coordination of operations, and operational process development and refinement.
  • Engage client leadership at corporate and government clients effectively.

Work Environment

  • This role is part of a remote team that works on a North America schedule with bi-annual global calls with the full company. Occasional evening meetings may be required outside of typical working hours to accommodate conversations with global colleagues.
  • Reports to the Senior Director of Consulting; collaborates closely with the Senior Program Manager of Consulting, Senior VP of North America, Head of Business Development, and Director of Operations for the NABU in order to optimize the business development and operational processes.
  • Requires some periodic travel (sometimes international) for in-person internal meetings and on-site delivery of consulting work.
  • This role will be a core team member within the Consulting Group, a client facing unit dedicated to building, designing and executing consulting projects across government, corporate and foundation clients.
  • This role is a mix of internal process development, business development and external community or client facing work.

Our Commitment to Pay Equity:

This role offers an annual base salary of $110,000 and a comprehensive benefits package. At SecondMuse, we believe in fairness and transparency, so we have a no-negotiation policy to prevent bias and ensure wage equality. However, the salary may be adjusted by SecondMuse based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, or geographic location. All compensation information will be discussed in detail before your first team interview to ensure alignment.

Requirements

Experience comes in many different forms. At SecondMuse, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive community of individuals with a wide range of backgrounds.
