Do you love writing? Are you into making guides and technical documents with pictures easy to understand? Is WordPress your passion and your day-to-day tool?

We are looking for a Technical Writer to produce high-quality WordPress documents that contribute to the overall success of WPMU DEV products.

You will join an outgoing and expanding team of talented tech writers who work collaboratively with all areas of the company to make our products easier to use.

The person we’re in search of will have intimate knowledge of WordPress and experience using a broad range of plugins and themes. Knowledge of our products and services is definitely a bonus, but not essential. We’re also keen to hear from people who have experience in crafting plugins or tinkering with their code.

Responsibilities

As a WordPress Technical Document Writer, a skilled wordsmith, you’ll:

  • Develop high-quality product manuals, how-to guides, website help sections, and other technical content.

  • Break down complex technical information into simple, clear, and engaging instructions.

  • Create user-friendly documentation and journal articles that improve product usability and support customer success.

  • Work collaboratively with the product, development, and marketing teams to ensure consistency and accuracy.

The ability to compose clear written instructions is imperative!

Your mission? To make processes easy to understand and products a breeze to use.

Key requirements

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Expert-level knowledge of WordPress.

  • Familiarity with Gutenberg, WooCommerce, Elementor, and caching plugins.

  • Extensive experience using a range of WordPress plugins and themes.

  • Hands-on experience building WordPress sites for personal use or clients.

  • A knack for troubleshooting WordPress issues and familiarity with plugin or theme customization.

Whether you gained these skills academically or are self-taught – we would love to hear from you.

Qualifications

Essential attributes and experience required:

  • Experienced in writing

  • Involved in the WordPress community.

  • Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation.

  • Ability to create high-quality documentation in perfect, clear, and engaging English that’s super easy to read and understand.

  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable using text and images.

  • Strong working knowledge of WordPress, ideally more than 2 years of experience.

  • You can clearly articulate your experience in an easy-to-read manner.

  • Someone who wants and can commit to a 40-hour workweek.

The ability to write in perfect, clear English is essential in this role. We are unable to consider applications that fail to demonstrate a high level of written communication.

HIRING PROCESS

Our hiring process includes the task mentioned above and an interview with our management team, enclosing a 2nd task. If a candidate successfully passes the interview stage, they will be offered a paid employment trial of 4-6 weeks before being offered a more permanent role.
