Clever is looking for a Director of Business Operations to optimize and scale the organization. You will oversee all aspects of Clever’s business operations, and play a key role on Clever’s extended leadership team. You will be responsible for leading a small team of Operations Managers, developing strategies to streamline processes and team operations across the business, leading strategic planning, facilitating regular corporate reporting, and proactively identifying points of leverage to scalably accelerate Clever’s growth. We are looking for a leader that embodies an entrepreneurial spirit with a proven track-record of leading high performing teams and maximizing organizational efficiency. This role reports to the Senior Director of Business Operations.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Lead all aspects of Clever’s business operations, from strategic planning to streamlining team processes, aligning with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Build and develop a small team of four Business Operations Managers and one RFP & Strategic Projects Manager, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management across the organization to understand business needs and position your team to drive operational initiatives that support achieving them. Act as a trusted advisor on operations-related matters, finding points of leverage to accelerate progress towards goals and organizational efficiency.
  • Drive Clever’s strategic planning process, supporting functional leaders in translating executive priorities into actionable strategies and measurable goals.
  • Develop and execute on Clever’s operational strategy and roadmap, aligning to company priorities.
  • Partner closely with Clever’s Head of Business Analytics to optimize regular corporate reporting, and lead monthly executive review of progress towards key strategic goals.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices, bringing a culture of operational excellence to your team that permeates across the entire organization.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Business Operations leadership: You have strong functional expertise and past leadership (5+ years leading operations teams) experience in building and scaling company-wide business operations across a broad range of functions. You have a proven track record of driving business outcomes from setting strategy and targets to process optimization to maximize organizational efficiency. Experience scaling business operations from the U.S. into international markets is strongly preferred. Experience with corporate development/M&A is also a plus.
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement: You create an environment where effective operations are seen as a point of leverage for scaling the business, and share your strong knowledge of industry best-practices. You proactively model, promote, and enable continuous improvement across the organization, and instill that mindset in your team. You have excellent organization, prioritization, and project management skills, and balance your drive for operational excellence with strong customer empathy to ensure your solutions meet stakeholders’ needs.
  • You run towards problems--not away from them: You’re a systems thinker that is comfortable identifying problems, coming up with solutions (not band-aids), and proactively implementing them. You are not afraid of driving change, have an ownership mentality, and go the extra mile to deliver the best possible results.
  • Business Leadership and Communication: You are able to translate business priorities into operational strategies that provide greater leverage to cross-functional teams. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively collaborate with and influence cross-functional stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Previous consulting experience is a plus.
  • Strategic thinking to execution: You’re able to take a macro view to identify trends, patterns, and potential areas for improvement. Then you’re able to zoom into the weeds to help your team execute.
  • People Leadership: You have strong leadership and management abilities, with experience building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Self-starter: You’re able to define your own processes, set direction, and execute without being told what to do every step of the way. You love building things from the ground up, and have a proven ability to drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

SALARY TRANSPARENCY:

The range of our base salary cash compensation for this role for candidates living in the United States, besides NYC and San Francisco, CA, is between $170,600 - $200,700. For candidates living in NYC and San Francisco, CA is between $187,700 - $220,800. All final offers are determined using multiple factors including experience and level of expertise.
