Student Position: Family Health Quantitative Research Assistant

Department Overview:

Dr. Alnuaimi is located in the UW-Madison School of Nursing on the west end of campus in the beautiful Signe Skott Cooper Hall, where employee wellness is a focus. Researchers at the UW–Madison School of Nursing investigate, innovate, collaborate across disciplinary boundaries, and translate research into effective solutions. Schedule:

The schedule is flexible, but most hours are expected to be between 7:00 AM-6:00 PM Monday-Friday. Some hours may be completed outside of that core time to your schedule. In person hours are required to work with data, but literature review tasks can be done outside the office.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

Minimum: $15.00 Maximum: $20.00

Qualifications:

• Experience with, and interest in, managing quantitative health data, including surveys and scales
• Experience managing and analyzing qualitative data
• Experience conducting literature reviews using health sciences databases
• UW-Madison graduate student, preferably in the health sciences or with a health science background

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Intermediate-level SPSS and MS Office experience, particularly Word and Excel
  • Experience with data entry, data codebooks, and data cleaning
  • Experience with descriptive statistics and regression analysis
  • Strong understanding of healthcare terminology
  • Though not required, any experience or knowledge on parenting research is desirable

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Student Research Assistant will support Dr. Alnuaimi’s research study on parental bonding with preterm infants at home.

The position will track participants in the study, send out surveys, and work on preliminary data analysis. Specific duties includes:

• data management

• cleaning and recleaning data

• drafting a quantitative data codebook
  • coding data
  • merging data sets and creating subsets of data
  • assisting with a literature review
