The RFE Cover Letter Writer Team Lead will oversee a team of RFE Cover Letter Writers who are responsible for responsibility and reliably drafting cover letters in response to Requests for Evidence (RFEs). This individual must have a proven track record of success in ensuring accurate and thorough work and can lead and advise a team of RFE Cover Letter Writers by providing training, guidance, and performance management to meet deadlines and client expectations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, an in-depth understanding of the processes involved, and excellent experience in legal writing. In addition, this candidate must be fluent in English, both speaking and writing.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
Supervise and mentor a team of RFE Cover Letter Writers by providing guidance, support, performance management, and payroll to ensure high levels of productivity and morale
Oversee and support team member’s training and development
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the RFE Cover Letter team and report back to the team on strengths and areas of opportunity
Facilitate team meetings and 1:1’s to share stylistic updates or other learnings
Oversee and ensure the RFE Cover Letters Writers are composing high-level legal arguments as well as proofreading letters prior to review to ensure they are accurate, complete and free of errors
Review all cover letters submitted by team members and share feedback or areas to correct
Serve as the primary point of escalation for the drafting or handling highly complex or unique cover letters for clients
Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by management
Possesses excellent English interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Prior understanding of all pertinent immigration case types (T-visa, U-Visa, Med DA, VAWA)
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask and handle or delegate responsibilities efficiently
Highly motivated with a strong determination to help the underdog
Highly accountable and proactive with communication among the team and cross-functional partners
Strong organizational skills and adaptability to changes in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to meet deadlines and time manage themselves
High school diploma (or equivalent) required, with legal education or certification preferred
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
3+ years experience in fields related to immigration law
Skills in analyzing metrics to provide feedback and look for points of improvement
