The Inland Marine Business Unit within IAT has an immediate opening for an Inland Marine Underwriter. We will consider remote work for the ideal candidate. Prefer candidates in the Central and Mountain Time zones with experience with Inland Marine rating methodology and cat modeling tools in a production environment.
This role will work a hybrid schedule from an IAT location. The hybrid schedule reflects our values (thinking and acting like an owner, collaboration, and teamwork) as it requires working from the office with colleagues and other disciplines Monday through Wednesday, with the option of working remotely on Thursday and Friday. For the right candidate, remote will be considered.

Responsibilities:- Review and analyze underwriting files, using judgment and experience as primary criteria, to accept new business or continue renewals within the established authority level.
- Review and analyze all documents within or associated with the underwriting file to establish accuracy in identifying and minimizing exposure risk, utilizing change requests, claim information, loss control, and outside databases to identify changes in exposure to risk.
- Review, evaluate, and determine account premium levels using sound judgment consistent with established company premium modification plans within authority limits.
- Read, evaluate, and interpret contracts and policies to determine exposures, providing guidance and clarification to others consistent with experience.
- Works on significant and unique issues that impact entire book of business. Provides guidance and mentorship for project work.
- Lead and champion BU specific and enterprise wide project initiatives.
- Perform other tasks as needed.
Qualifications:- Bachelors’ degree in Risk Management, Finance, Mathematics, Business or related with at least 12 years of related experience or equivalent (Inland Marine highly preferred).
- Equivalent is defined as 16 years of relevant Inland Marine Underwriting experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Inland Marine insurance required.
- Ability to analyze risk across a broad spectrum of industries.
- Strong problem solving, reasoning and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of Inland Marine rating methodology and cat modeling tools.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement processes and tools.
- Requires strong math aptitude, excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
- To qualify, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposes.
Preferred to Have:- CPCU, ARM, or AU industry designations preferred.
- INS21, 22 and 23 or equivalent is a plus.

Compensation:Please note, that the annual gross salary range associated with this posting is $106,400 – $168,100. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base salary for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and geographical location related to this specific role. The total compensation will include a base salary, performance-based bonus opportunities, 401(K) match, profit-sharing opportunities, and more.
