Compensation

Compensation includes a base salary of $99,000.00 - $165,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

*This position is remote/work from home. You need to reside within the Eastern Time Zone. If near Atlanta office, the role will be hybrid.

The Research and Market Intelligence group is tasked with anticipating and understanding consumer and dealer needs and competitive threats to provide solutions that create value to the Cox Automotive organization.

The Market & Customer Research Manager reports to the Senior Director of Industry Intelligence and is responsible for supporting the development and management of market research and competitive intelligence analysis to support a variety of Cox Automotive Consumer Solutions (Autotrader, Kelley Blue, Dealer.com and Kelley Blue Book Instant Cash Offer). This position will serve as a thought leader and trusted advisor to internal clients, effectively engaging them to understand their vision/mission/goals/objectives, identifying opportunities that the team can support, delivering actionable insights and consulting on their business.

Specifically, the Market & Customer Research Manager will gather primary and secondary B2B and B2C market research, identify trends, pain points and unmet needs, analyze customer and non-customer data, history and trends vs. the competition to formulate strategic insights. Additionally, the Market & Customer Research Manager will report the findings to Senior leadership across all business units, and shared services (including Consumer Solutions Strategy, Consumer Marketing, Client Marketing, Product Management, etc.) to drive decision-making and/or influence business strategies. This individual will leverage a variety of data resources, including syndicated research, primary research data, site metrics, and other external sources to support Cox Automotive’ s product, marketing and sales efforts.

What You’ll Do

  • Become an industry thought leader and trusted business advisors to Strategy, Marketing, Product, and other Consumer Solutions teams. Effectively engage with clients, understanding their vision/mission/goals/objectives, identifying opportunities that our team can support, delivering actionable insights and consulting clients on their business. Recommend primary research initiatives, help manage primary research budgets and prioritize spend to optimize ROI and business impact.
  • Analyzes and prepares reports of research findings to clearly communicate insights and recommendations for internal clients and senior management. Blend primary and secondary research findings with industry and competitive intelligence into actionable client insights.
  • Creates buy-in for changes to customer and internal processes and strategies, building the case for change and supporting recommendations with quantifiable analyses.
  • Responds to and performs ad hoc assignments as necessary.
  • Support internal teams during industry events such as NADA, Digital Dealer and other internal events.

Who You Are

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and 6 years of primary research experience with B2B and B2C qualitative and quantitative primary research methods. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 4 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 10 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Research experience includes Market Research, Brand Positioning & Tracking Research, Naming Research, Concept-testing, A/B site testing, Needs-state Research, Ethnographic Research, Segmentation, Attitudes and Usage studies and Key Drivers Analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills: able to spot trends, big picture context, distill data/information into a concise story, with the ability to creatively tell the story through visuals.
  • Consulting experience, including synthesizing large amounts of primary research with syndicated data and competitive intelligence to deliver actionable insights for counseling clients on key business decisions within a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Considerable experience in translating business requirements into deliverable market research projects, which aid in business and executive decision-making.
  • Experience working with primary research, analytics, secondary research and market intelligence data to tell a story, draw out implications, and make business recommendations that impact a business’ strategic direction.

Preferred:

  • Automotive industry experience
  • Experience in Business, Consulting, Research, Analytics, Statistics, Market Intelligence or related field.
